Who advertises in About Town?
A. Advertisers wishing to
reach up-scale, active individuals who enjoy a variety of entertainment
and activities, and who prefer to support the businesses in the
AboutTown area.
Q. What
are the standard ad formats in AboutTown?
A. Listing ads: your
ad will be listed under an appropriate heading. You can describe
your business in 35, 45 or 60 words. Your business name, and contact
information are free.
Display ads: sizes range from 2" to 8" deep by
3 1/2" wide. There are a limited number of half page ads available.
All display prices include a free listing ad under the appropriate
category directing readers to your display ad.

How do I submit copy for my ad?
A. Submitting listing ads:
We make it easy for you. Fax, email, or snailmail your text for
a listing ad, or simply fill out the
listing form on this site.
Submitting Display ad material: Electronic formats are preferred. Acceptable formats are: pdf, eps, tiff, Adobe InDesign, Quark XPress ver. 4.0 or earlier, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. We offer design service at no change.

How much does an ad cost?
A. A listing ad costs as little
as $41 per issue when you contract for one year.
Display ads range from $145 to $750 per issue.

Must I contract for a year?
A. No but you save money if
you do.
Q.
Do I have to pay for the full year
all at once?
A. No. We can bill you quarterly
or you can pre-pay for the full year and save 10%.

Can I change my ad from issue to
issue?
A. Yes, we send postcards
and/or email reminding you to contact us if you want to make changes
to your ad. Just let us know by the deadline.
Q.
How much coverage will my ad get?
A. We print between 15,000
and 21,000 copies an issue depending on the season. They are distributed
at approximately 300 sites in northern Dutchess and southern Columbia
counties. AboutTown is restocked in key locations, keeping the paper
visible throughout the three-month period. Typical distribution
sites are B&Bs the Amtrak train station, Bard College,
convenience stores, and so on. For a more complete list go see the

counties. The number of copies at each distribution site and frequency
of restocking varies depending on the traffic.
Q. Who reads AboutTown?
A. AboutTown is read by full
time residents, tourists, and second home owners who want:
-A comprehensive guide to businesses and services in the area;
-Interesting and well written articles and stories;
-To know what is happening locally.

How long has AboutTown been in existence?
A. The New Paltz AboutTown
has been in existence since 1984. The northern Dutchess/southern
Columbia county edition published its first issue in the fall of
1997.
Q.
Is there a charge for calendar listings?
A. Advertisers and not for
profit organizations in our local coverage area can have events
listed in the calendar for no charge. However, if you do not fit
into one of the above categories there is a fee of $20 per issue.
Space for out-of-area calendar listings is minimal.
