Music Festival
Bard Music Festival
This year's 21st Annual Bard Music Festival Program offers a reassessment of late-Romantic aspects of the austerely rigorous Viennese composer, Alban Berg. Come to two August weekends of concerts, talks and panel discussions. Programs include chamber music, concertos & symphonic works, and vocal music by Berg and contemporaries as well as excerpts from Wozzeck, and the Lulu Suite; chamber concertos by Berg, Schoenberg, and Hindemithand much more. Weekend One: "Berg and Vienna"; Weekend Two: "Berg the European." Also featured are two panel discussions—"Berg: His Life and Career" and "Music and Morality," as well as a symposium, "Rethinking the Modern." All this is part of Bard's expanded arts extravaganza, SummerScape. "Berg and His World" Festival events August 13–15 and August 20–22 at Bard's acclaimed Fisher Center and Olin Hall.
