Walk the Huguenot Path. 10am. Guided walk through the historic marshlands and oxbow lake of the Harcourt Nature Preserve. Easy 1-1.5 hour hike exploring the special topography and history of this largely unknown area. Culminates with a visit to the site of the Wallkill River ferry landing and a tour of LeFevre House, site of Ezekiel Elting's store in the early 1800s. $3 suggested donation.

Summer Butterflies and Late Blooming Flowers. 10am-1pm. Join John Kenney, Mohonk Preserve Volunteer, for a hike through the fields. Caterpillars, like children, are sometimes very finicky eaters. How does that butterfly flying overhead find the only plant that her offspring will eat? Look for the larvae and eggs of the Swallowtail and the Monarch Butterfly and check out what else is flying, crawling, or sprinting on this summer day. ELTING MEMORIAL LIBRARY. Get ready for Elting Memorial Library's Annual Library Fair & Book Sale on Saturday, July 12th from 9AM to 4PM (the book sale continues on July 13th). The fair promises to be especially exciting this year with bargain prices on over 10,000 sorted and categorized books, lots of collectable LPs, CDs and DVDs, and audio books. Bring the whole family and browse through the flea market or take home something for the garden from the plant booth, or make bids on lots of great items in the silent auction. There will be food, music, and lots of vendors selling jewelry, handbags, art, folk toys, scarves, tapestries, tins signs, glass items, Kiss My Face products and lots of natural bath and body products. Campers will get hands-on experience opening up a fresh pit around the 300 year old Bevier Elting House under the supervision of Kevin Van Kleeck, a professional archaeologist familiar with our historic site. Dragonflies: Up Close and Personal ... Well, Not Very. 10am-2:30pm. Ever see a dragonfly up close? Not many of us get to do that since this insect may reach speeds of up to 60 mph. New York entomologists are conducting a dragonfly census. Researcher Larry Federman, Audubon New York, will present an overview of dragonfly biology and identification, then will take you to a few choice viewing/catch and release spots. • Back School at Northern Dutchess Hospital
The class offers a simple approach to understanding back injuries, their causes, and possible preventative steps. The program teaches people with back problems how to control their back pain by correctly performing activities of daily living. Future dates 871-3427.
